Cats are notorious for being unamused and inconvenienced by the presence of their human counterparts. Some would even argue that cats flat out don't like us at all. However, that couldn't be further from the truth! Cats really do love us, they just have a funny way of showing it. Here are just a few of the hilarious ways that cats tell us how they really feel!

Giving Us a Nice View of the Full Moon

Although unsightly, when a cat flaunts their rear end in your face, it's actually a sign of friendship! It might seem like they are blatantly trying to ignore you with this gesture, but it is just their way of saying "Hey, you're my pal, now here's my butt!" Not something we would recommend you do in an attempt to make new human friends, but with cats, we'll let it slide.

Creating a Whole Language Just to Communicate with Us

Did you know that the "meow" was developed by cats to exclusively communicate with humans? Cats are able to communicate with each other via scent, facial expressions, and overall body language, but humans aren't aptto pick up on suchcues. So, cats improvised by creating over 100 different vocalizations that humans' feeble minds could better understand. Try naming another animal that will go that far to accommodate you! If that's not love, we don't know what is!

The Tail Tells All

A cat's tail (or mood noodle) is always a great indicator of how they're feeling. If your cat approaches you with their tail straight in the air (almost vibrating), with a slight hook at the top, then that is a good indication that they are happy as all get out to see you!

Headbutts for Days

Imagine your best friend coming up to you and mercilessly headbutting you in the face. You would think that they were mad or wanted to start a fight, right? Well, if your best friend happens to be a cat, then this gesture means quite the opposite. Cats will headbutt and rub their faces against you as a sign of affection and to mark you as their territory. Clingy, much?

Showing You Their Belly (Even if it's just Foreshadowing an Imminent Attack)

Cats will show you their belly as a sign of trust and relaxation, but beware! Showing you their belly is absolutely NOT an invitation to give them belly rubs. They aren't Lassie and they will quickly remind you just who you are messing with by assaulting you with all the kicks, claws, and angry hisses for giving them unsolicited belly rubs. With that being said, exposing their belly to you is still a good sign that you are doing something right and that your cat really loves and trusts you.

See, cats don't hate us after all! They just happen to have hilarious ways of expressing themselves. Use the sharing tools below to share this blog and help a fellow cat lover decode their cat's weird tendencies.
