National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, pure and mixed, and helps the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, whether it be from public shelters, rescues, or pure breed rescues. National Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe, and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs, and by pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.
This day encourages dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure, and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe, and abuse-free life. The main goal of the National Dog Day Foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs each year, but here is a list of other ways that you can celebrate this day properly.
However you choose to celebrate, be sure to include your pup!
