October is typically a month owned by PSLs and one spooky holiday: Halloween. What’s even more haunting is that not many people are aware of National Cat Day, which falls on the last Monday of the month. Find out how animal shelters and animal rights groups around the U.S. have celebrated their feline friends and about upcoming events!

ASPCA

Four years ago, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals teamed up with Uber and the funny website, I Can Has Cheezburger for a charity. Participating Uber drivers had kittens in vehicles that were driven to several offices across the country, promoting playtime! Kitties in tow were also available for adoption. Read more about the partnership here.

Best Friends Animal Society

The Best Friends Animal Society located in Kanab, Utah celebrated National Feral Cat Day last month! Read more about how they educate their community on the humane way of stabilizing the outdoor cat population here.

San Francisco SPCA

The San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be hosting their Cuddle Me Festival where those nearby can do yoga with cats, listen to live music, create cute cuddle gifs, and more! The best part? Free adoptions! You can find out more about this tail-wagging event here!

Celebrating National Cat Day is fun no matter what you do to support organizations and the animals they care for. Spend a few minutes volunteering your time at a local animal shelter near you, treat your kitty to a massage, or invite your other cat-loving friends and host a party with cat-shaped cookies! Treating your feline friend to their very own Kitty Kasa will make everyday Cat Day!
