5 Ways You Can Participate in Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month

June is dedicated to raising awareness to adopt shelter cats. While Kitty Kasa is not just for shelters anymore, they continue to be an advocate for shelter cats from all over! Here are five ways you can help show your homeless feline friends you care this month.

ADOPT – DON’T SHOP!

There are thousands of shelters in the United States that have cats that need their forever home. Adopting a cat from a shelter is the best way to participate in Adopt-A-Shelter Cat month. Not sure where a shelter is near you? You can use the local shelter search engine on the ASPCA’s website here.

DONATE

If adoption is not an option – no worries! Shelters can always use donations whether it is money or supplies. New cat toys, towels, blankets, unopened food, and other items are all donatable to shelters.

BECOME A FOSTER

One of the biggest problems that many shelters face is space. By reaching out to shelters and other rescue groups to become a foster cat mom or dad, this creates more available space to other homeless cats.

VOLUNTEER

Local shelters often look to the community when they need extra helping hands. Volunteer work means you can help give homeless kitties the love and care they deserve while they wait to find their forever home. Contact your local shelter to see what kind of volunteer options they have available.

SPREAD AWARENESS

Spread awareness by liking, sharing, and joining rescue groups and other shelter’s social media pages. Be sure to encourage your followers to do the same!
